The St. Clair Art Association is excited to announce our artist of the month Dave Tobaben.
We invite you to stop in to the art center to see first hand Dave's work. Artist Of The Month
Dave's Background:
I am a retired GM designer and have kept busy in retirement by drawing and painting. I am a member of Blue Water Art Association, St. Clair Art Association, and Michigan Watercolor Society.
My art is illustrative with high detail. I was a technical illustrator for many years, making technical manuals for auto companies. I graduated from Ferris State College in Technical Illustration and attended Wayne State University in automotive design.
I was attracted to the many ships that ply our great lakes, and am still intrigued by their sheer size and detail. You will see the size of a building float by on our lakes and rivers. This is why the "Great Lakes" continues to show in some of my marine work, "sailings", Coast Guard and working tug boats that assist.
I work in watercolors, acrylics, and pen & ink. I mostly work from photographs, but sometimes I paint plein air landscapes and soak up some great Michigan weather.
My website showcases my automotive art, Great Lakes art, and landscapes.
